Honey Harvest

We have now extracted the honey and the bees are snuggling down for the winter.  They did a lot better than we were expecting so there is plenty of beautiful golden honey for Hideaway visitors!

We delivered some to the Quarry Shop yesterday then went on to Borth for a walk on the lovely beach.

The Gorfanc Bees

At Gorfanc, as in the rest of the U.K., the ‘summer’ of 2012 has been a difficult one for honeybees.

Despite an abundance of flowers, at times continuous rain has kept the bees at home and some stocks needed a feed of sugar even in June.

However, more recent sunny days really had the nectar flowing from willowherb, clover, blackberry and other flowers from the fields and hedgerows around Gorfanc:-   happy bees!

More news soon about the harvest that we hope is in store!

Happy Bees at the Gorfanc Apiary
